31 Pages in 31 Days

I hope you're enjoying my new blog series, 31 Pages in 31 Days! I am LOVING the intense focus on scrapbooking that August brings, as my Scrapbooking Summer School is in full swing during the month and we're all working on the challenge together. It's a fabulous way to focus that mojo that has wandered off sometime in the last couple of years for many of us. If you're a former, current, or wanna-be scrapper, I encourage you to play along and challenge yourself to accomplish a significant goal like this one, one day at a time!

'tis the season of weddings and anniversaries, so I think this two-page spread will come in handy for my Scrapbooking Summer School attendees. I started with a Blackberry Bliss 12×12 base and layered on an 11×11 mat of Blackberry Bliss Designer Series Paper Stack, in the polka-dot pattern. This lessens the visual busyness of the polka dots, which would otherwise be overwhelming. A plain Whisper White square mat (8.5 inches square) will serve as one mat for all the photos. You can either fill the mat to the brim, or scatter a loose handful of photos across the two pages, making this a very versatile design.

The best part about this spread is the details! I stamped the "happily ever after" from the adorable new stamp set Big News, sprinkled rhinestones and heart punches around it, and made these cute punch art wedding rings from Silver Foil cardstock and a Vintage Faceted "glass" button. You can make the rings with any nesting circle punches, but I "think" used the 3/4 inch and one-inch circles punches for mine. The "glass" buttons come in three different sizes, so you can really many any ring size that suits your project.

My page is actually for a milestone anniversary, so I used the Memorable Moments stamp set and matching Framelit dies for the Sizzix Big Shot to make this little pieces for the left-hand page, decorating it the same way with rhinestones and heart punches. I also used one doily, cut in half, to help break up the stark lines of the white mat against the deep purple.

So, are you playing along? Leave a comment if you're scrapping this month, too, (or wish you were!) and if you've set yourself a challenge or deadline. There's power in numbers, and I feel encouraged knowing so many people are working towards a big, exciting goal with me! Be sure to tag your photos with the #31pagesin31days hashtag if you're posting to Facebook, Instagram or Twitter, and when you search for that tag, yours and everyone else's pages will come up. Awesome way to get your stuff out there and gets lots of inspiration, too.

  1. Wow – this is a stunning layout! I really like it 🙂 I don’t have any weddings to scrapbook, but will keep this for future use for another occasion. Great layout!

  2. OMG! I looked at the first photo of the layout and saw the rings and thought, “How in the world did she do that?” Then I scrolled down and it was another OMG! You are so creative, Lyssa!

  3. Not sure I have any occasions in my past or future pages for my boys, but will be able to use the design for sure and adapt it for something like a birthday maybe.
