Welcome back to Song of My Heart Stampers' new blog series, 31 Pages In 31
Days! Every day during the month of August, I'll be posting a single or
double page scrapbook layout for your inspiration. I have been running a
Scrapbooking Summer School on four consecutive Thursday nights in
August, and I've issued them a challenge–complete thirty-one pages in
just thirty-one days, and they'll receive a bonus pack of Designer
Series Papers at the end of the month! Three of them already did it!

YOU CAN PLAY ALONG with us by challenging yourself to complete
thirty-one pages, too, and posting your progress here on Song of My
Heart Stampers. I also have set up a 31 Pages in 31 Days Facebook group, where you can even post pictures of your pages to inspire and encourage others who are taking the challenge, too!

I'm proud of today's page, composed entirely of scraps left over from other projects! I love it when that happens. I always feel so thrifty! Click here to see a post about how I store my scraps for maximum efficiency.

I used a fun image and saying combo from the Crazy Mixed-Up Love stamp set as my headline. Headlines don't have to be big letters marching across the page. A new trend in scrapping is to have no formal headline at all, just a single word or short phrase on a flag or pennant. That trend works out ideally for many stamp sets, making your papercrafting supplies twice as versatile. For this page, I centered the focal point on a wide double matted area to draw attention to it. If it didn't have that visual draw and the grounding of the dark colors, the small phrase would be lost on the pageful of busy patterns.

My color combo was Summer Starfruit, Smoky Slate, Basic Gray, Whisper White and Basic Black. At first glance, this might look like a plain page–so let's tour the details! For texture, there's striped Epic Day Washi Tape, and Neutrals Candy Dots (our new backless brads). I also added a lot of "circuit" themed paper piercing for texture without too much busyness. It took a little bit but it added a lot to the page. And I pulled out my very favorite retired punch design, the Photo Corners punch, and shed a lot of "light" on the page by using the shiny new SIlver Foil Cardstock.

The simple layout of this page tosses the four photos into focus. There's four for a reason… there's four of us! If your family has fewer or more members, I would still stick with the four photo mats for this particular sketch. You could fill the squares with groupings of family members, or just highlight one special person in four different poses. My mats are 2.75 inches square.

Wow, Day 27 is done! Looking back over the last three weeks, What's been your favorite page so far? Got any requests as we head into the final days? I have some extra cute pages up my sleeve, including more new stamp sets, the chevron punch, a basketweave, and much more! See you tomorrow.

  1. Fave for me is the 8/15 Christmas page — love the colors, and the “crooked” on purpose layout — way easier than making sure everything is straight…

  2. This is another great layout, Lyssa. Not sure how you keep coming up with new, fresh styles. I like the paper piercing idea..really adds texture.
Hard to pick one fav as they are all wonderful, but I really like the Eastern Elegance layout on Aug 5th. I tend to favor geometric layouts, and this one definitely fits the bill. Look forward to seeing the remaining layouts and winning your blog candy (hee-hee)

  3. I haven’t paper pierced in a while…it used to be one of my signature touches in my first couple of years of demonstrating.
My favorite layouts have been the one with the Winter Frost paper/Wisteria Wonder, and the 2 double page spreads with the Sweater Weather DSP. I have gotten A LOT of inspiration for my pages…and simply been truly inspired to even scrapbook at ALL! Thank you so much for all you have done over the past month to inspire each of us!

  4. I can’t decide what element I like better on this page, the washi tape or the foil card stock. I don’t know if I have a favorite page so far. I have pinned all of them and can’t wait until I have time to recreate them.
