31 Pages 31 Days 2016-001

Happy Day 24 of 31 Pages in 31 Days! I can't believe we have just one week left to go in our series. I've been enjoying myself immensely and hope you have been, as well. Be sure to pin some layouts and color combos to try another time, if you've not been playing along. You'll know right where to come for inspiration when you're ready to get some serious scrappin' done!

Today's page is perfect for the kiddie pool, on the lake or at the beach… and can hold a serious number of photos!

31 pages in 31 Days Song of My Heart 2016 26aWanna hear something funny? I just realized I photographed this spread with the right hand page upside down. Ha! The white "wave" die cut was supposed to be in the upper right corner. Oh brother. Oh well. You guys can use your imagination on this one!

Lots of texture added with the die-cut "wave," the embossed waves on some of the squares, and spatters on the others.

TODAY'S TIP: many people are intimidated to begin scrapbooking for the very reason I love it–the size of the canvas you have to work with. 12×12 inches is a lot of area, and two pages side by side is even more space to fill. But if you can create a card, you can scrapbook. You just have to take it bigger. Take all the elements you would normally put on a card and super-size them or double them to begin filling up that space.

If you would normally use one die-cut on a card, cut two for a page. If you would typically make one focal point for a card, make three for your spread. If you would usually include ribbons or a button on a card, double the embellishments for a page. Don't glue anything down until you've got the basic layout to your liking, and created or gathered enough elements to balance the space.

Appreciate you popping in today! Hope you're finding the tips helpful, the layouts unique, and the color combos inspirational! Be sure to let me know if there's anything I can help you with. You can email me directly at Lyssa@songofmyheartstampers.com anytime. I love to hear from fellow crafters! Now… turn off the computer and go get in the craft room 🙂 I'll see you tomorrow for Day 25!

  1. I never would have known that the 2nd page was upside down if you hadn’t told us – it looks good that way too! I never would have put these colors together, particularly with peekaboo peach as the background color but it totally works. Thanks for all your inspiration this month, I’ll be sad when it’s over!

  2. I agree with Deepa… Never would have known the second page was upside down! Shows how versatile these layouts are! I love that new embossing folder with the waves, and the cute little sailboat. Very nicely done!

  3. Oh, and I see what you mean by making twos or threes of everything to stretch out the “canvas” across a larger space. Cool!

  4. This spread made me realize that I didn’t take one single picture of my kids in the pool this summer. D’oh! Good thing I have loads from previous summers!
