Welcome to Day Twelve of 31 Pages in 31 Days, Song of My Heart Stamper's exclusive blog series and challenge! Every day in August I am posting a scrapbook page or spread for your inspiration, as we strive towards our goal of getting 31 total pages done for the month. The pages people are making for the challenge can be viewed on the Facebook 31 Pages in 31 Days support group.
Today's inspiration layout is all about purple!
Milestone anniversaries call for regal tones and elegance, in my book, so I started with a gorgeous floral emboss-resist paper from the Irresistibly Floral specialty pack and Sponged it in Rich Razzleberry, a nice vibrant purple. But I didn't just do the whole page–only the edges, to bring out the pattern–and I also used the softer, pinky-mauve Sweet Sugarplum to add some variation in the sponging.
I stamped on the paper, too–those Rich Razzleberry dots are stamped on after the sponging was complete. The ink doesn't stick to the raised embossed white, so it's a really cool look.
Side note–the lighting is not helping matters here. I swear these colors match exactly. Such is life! I know you know ALL about Stampin' Up's amazing color coordination and that Sugarplum and Razzleberry actually go really well together.
TODAY'S TIP: I chose white satin ribbon and silver metal-rimmed pearls for the embellishments, to echo a wedding dress… nice touch for an anniversary page, I think! If you've ever come to one of my scrapbooking classes before, you know I follow a "rule" when it comes to decorating the page. Once my papers are picked, my mats are cut and my layout settled, I try to add one textile element and one metallic element. When you think you're done with a spread, check to see if you have included something "soft" and something "hard." Scrapbooking is a really super-tactile thing. Give people something to touch!
This is one of the pages for Week Two of Scrapbooking Summer School, so I'm including a complete supply list for the benefit of my online challenge participants, as well as YOU, dear reader! I hope you're following along or at least pinning some ideas to try when you have a little more time to scrap.

I love the tip about adding texture – I think that would be a good rule for cards too. Love how pretty the background paper looks when sponged, and using 2 colors really added some good depth. Have a great weekend!
WOW! This is beautiful! Thanks for the tip about “hard” and “soft”.
Purple! My favorite all-time color! And how nice to see the new in-color… Sweet Sugarplum! I have been wanting to see more of it in designs. Lovely accent with the ribbon and decorative button, and the embosseed paper , with the sponged edges, is delightful. So pretty…
Gasp!
Stunning!
Not a purple person but I love what you have done here.
Lyssa, this was one of my favorites!!! I am turning it into a dance spread for Jenny… she loved the idea. Thanks as always for your inspirations!
Love the look of the sponged paper.
The colors are beautiful. I love the resist background.
Very Nice! I love the razzelberry and sugarplum together. The edges bring elegance to the scrapbook pages. Very well done! 🙂
I love this layout. Stampin’ up has some cute paper.
