If you're just joining us, welcome to Song of My Heart Stampers' blog series challenge, 31 Pages In 31 Days! Every day during the month of August, I'll be posting a single or double page scrapbook layout for your inspiration. I am running a Scrapbooking Summer School on four consecutive Thursday nights in August, and I've issued them a challenge–complete thirty-one pages in just thirty-one days.
You can play along at home, too! Join the online support group here at the 31 Pages in 31 Days official Facebook fan page! And use the hashtag #31pagesin31days to make your project searchable for everyone participating!
Today is Day Three, and here's my sample page… a single-page vintage themed baby layout!
I'm thinking a single, large black and white photo for the center, with no mat. Fun juxtaposition of the crisp, modern stripes with the frou-frou details on the banner headline! The soft colors make it work even though there's a lot of pattern.
TODAY'S TIP: What do you think–does my page follow the guidelines in the 5 Tricks Designers Know About Using Bold Diagonal Stripes? I love throwing in a bit of the unexpected on my pages. The typical thing to use for the background would be soft pink pinstripes or a small polka dot. But good designers take risks… I DARE you to take one on YOUR next layout!
I got to use up almost all the bits and scraps of lace and trim in my scrap bin for this banner! It was originally a cake topper for a sweet baby shower, but now that the party's over, it's been reborn as a page trim and will shortly be a framed gift for the nursery. When they're through with it, they can unframe it and slip it right into an album. Scrapbook pages in 12×12 frames make SUCH a great gift!
Feeling inspired yet? If not, stick around, and you shortly will be! And if you need layout design help, I encourage you to check out my Scrapbooker's One-Sheet Wonder templates, which make scrapbooking not only super easy but also economical. Each two-age layout uses just ONE sheet of patterned paper, yet feels balanced and full. They are fantastic starting-off points for busy crafters.
I hope you'll take a peek, and I hope I'll see you back here tomorrow for Day Four! Happy scrappin, everyone!
Oooh so pretty, I love these colors together!
Absolutely stunning! I love how you used up the different trims in the banner.
I love that little banner across the page, it is so pretty! What a fun way to re-use baby shower memorabilia and keep it to look back on in the future.
So Cute!
Lyssa, I absolutely love this layout. I am going to adapt it into a wedding page this week using the word LOVE. Thank you so much for doing 31 pages again this year. I look forward to it every year.
