31 Days of Doilies–Day 22

DSCF7938
Super quick post here today to continue the summer blog series. My seven year old is very sick with a kidney infection, turns out (not appendicitis as originally thought). She is home now from getting IV antibiotics, but we're ALL exhausted, so a nap is the next thing on the agenda!

Today's doilies are on the Flirtatious Designer Series Fabric I used on this tiny tote. These are patterned like the DSP, so you have the ultimate mixing and matching power for your papercrafting and mixed-media projects.

My favorite thing to do with the DS Fabrics is to make these Scallop Square Rag Bags (tutorial and tips here). I usually make them much larger, but this one is made from just five squares total, plus two optional pockets, and a handle. I also had a teeny bit of fabric left and made a bow to decorate it.

It is just big enough to hold your SNAIL, refill, scissors, bone folder, etc at events. You can make a slightly larger one with 8 squares–two on each side and the bottom, and one on each end. Cut extra squares to make lots of pockets on either the inside or outside of the bag, and you'll fit even more inside.

That's it from me today–check back tomorrow for a totally different type of rag bag and some better instructions on how to make them (after I catch some zzz's!) with the super cute Flirtatious fabrics or any of our new Designer Series Fabrics in the Idea Book & Catalog.

  1. Oh no! Hope your sweet girl is feeling a bit better after the trip to the good doctor. I hate when the little ones are sick! Give her a big snuggle from us!
Almost forgot to add that I love the cute bag!
