Stencilling with the Shimmer Paints

DSCF3186 copy

Here's a fun thing to do with the laser-cut note cards and envelopes on page 168 of the Idea Book & Catalog. I used the Pendant Notes, which come in Kraft, to make this card and matching envelope. First, I used the laser-cut opening as a stencil with Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint and the sponge daubers, and made my envelope pretty! So easy!

Then I evened out the paint job on the "stencil" and added a Very Vanilla Hodgepodge Hardware large brad (also daubed with Champagne Mist paint) to the center. Since I could see the back prongs of the brad, I added a circle of Brushed Gold cardstock behind there as well, then backed the piece with Rich Razzleberry cardstock.

I measured a Rich Razzleberry frame that was 3.75 inches square, which gave me a border of 1/8 inch all the way around the cards, which are a perfect four-inch square (envelopes are 4.25 in. square). I punched the Scallop Border Punch just once in the center of each side, to create a scalloped frame look.

To finish off the card, I used my awesome new Modern Label Punch, which I totally adore, and took the Rich Razzleberry marker to the Gifts of Christmas stamp set to get just the "Christmas Wishes" saying I wanted and not the whole dove image. Then I attached the label to the card with a couple of Very Vanilla brads.

These laser-cut notes can't go through the regular Post Office, so they are just for hand delivery to special people. They pack a lot of punch into a small package! There's three different designs, in Kraft, Whisper White and Very Vanilla–check them out!

  1. I ordered from Lyssa on Dec 2nd. I love stampin up because they have such cool stamps and neat ideas especially when you have a person like Lyssa to give you such great ideas!
I already have the bag but if I win it I’ll have to see if anyone I know needs it. Its really handy to put all your dyes in and of course the big shot 🙂

  2. Beautiful cards!! You could always put the laser die cut cards (and their beautiful envelopes) into another, bigger, regular sized envelope and mail it with one stamp. Just sayin’. 🙂
