PCG Day Three

PCG Blog Series Header
Welcome back to another installment of The Procrastinating Crafter's Guide to quick Christmas glam! All of us dream of a relaxed Christmas filled with treats, traditions, and TIME to enjoy it all… but every year, before we know it, BAM! it's December 24th and we never did make that (insert special item here) that we were hoping to this year.

So here I am to the rescue with some super fast ideas for things you can do to glam up your Christmas using mostly things you probably already have on hand. I hope you're enjoying these quick, 30-minutes-or less ideas to infuse your holidays with handmade!

PCG Napkin Rings
Today's project is some quick napkin rings made from quarter-inch wide strips of Silver Glimmer paper. If you've ever seen this or used it in person, you know how deliciously sparkly these must be. Our glam quotient just skyrocketed! And because the glitter is IN the paper, you are not going to make a mess and it won't take forever to make (and dry) these.

The sky is the limit when it comes to your imagination in how you wrap the silver strips… one or two strips wrapped around a Whisper White six by one inch strip to form a classic napkin ring, as shown in the top left photo…. several seven-inch long loops or a long curly spiral, connected with a strip underneath, top right…. or adhered in a classic ribbon style (right). You can even braid three silver strips together (middle left)! My personal fave is the lower left corner photo.

And what holds all those strips in place? I highly reccomend a mini hot glue gun for this project. Glimmer Paper is gritty on one side and slick on the other, so you need to use adhesive with some OOMPH to it.

The best thing about these napkin rings is that I don't have to store them! They were also practically free, they use such a tiny sliver of Glimmer Paper. I accented all my napkin rings with a Whisper White snowflake from the new Big Shot die Snow Flurry, from the Holiday Catalog, but you could use a punch on a little stamped image if you preferred.

Day Four's project also requires a glue gun–but that's your only hint! You'll just have to pop back in tomorrow to see what I have up my sleeve. I have to go DUST now that I finally pulled down the autumn decor this morning… yesterday I was on the local Christmas Parade of Homes tour and visited several gorgeously decorated historic homes. At one point a group of us were standing in a doorway staring awestruck at a splendidly decked-out holiday bedroom, and I whispered into the silence, "I still have rotting pumpkins on my porch." They all about died laughing. There were tears, I swear. I'm still not sure what was so funny!
