No more Pink and Red for a bit!!

I don't know about you, but I'm a little pink-and-redded out right now. Let's look at something totally different for a little bit! Here's a funky card I made with the Flower Folds XL die for the Big Shot. I wanted to see how it would look when it wasn't all layered up and 3-D. And I love the way it turned out–very sassy!

I managed NOT to spray Shimmer Spray on this card (it was SO HARD!!) but I couldn't resist adding Crystal Effects polka dots for texture, since the card was indeed quite flat (no dimensionals used, which is highly unusual for me).I used Crushed Curry for the flowers, with circle punches in Old Olive for the centers, paired with crisp Whisper White for the background and Melon Mambo as the card base.

I used the same color combo for this gift bag and card ensemble as well, adding in the matching Melon Mambo polka dotted grosgrain ribbon, and blind embossing with the Elegant Bouquet folder for the Big Shot on the card.

These flowers I did layer up as originally intended with the die, and you can see how different the flower looks depending on whether or not you layer the flower petals straight one on top of the other (on the card), or off-set them a little (on the bag).

Love how versatile this die is! You can see more samples of it, done in fabric this time, here. And a vintage style card with a fabric flower on the front is located here. Check back for more fun Flower Folds samples–I'm snowed in with the kiddos today and the craft room is calling!
