Mini Photo Tutorial: Easy Patterned Paper Slit Technique

Ever make a great card that was inspired by a particular scrap? I have a TON (like seriously, close to 100) of a 2 x 4.25 inch strip of this pretty gold-foil embossed paper from the Bundle of Love specialty Designer Series Papers, and I came up with this technique as a fun and different way to use up those leftover narrow strips of patterned papers that seem to multiple when we aren't looking!

All you need is a paper trimmer, a plain card base, and a strip of patterned paper.

Stamp your sentiment in the lower right hand corner area of the card base. Open the card up flat and put it into your paper trimmer, flush against the top "bumper guard"  (shown on the right here), with the sentiment just above the track where the blade goes.

Starting with the blade not at the end of the track, but at least 1/2 an inch into the card, make your slice underneath the sentiment from one side to the other. Stop when you get to the end of the sentiment. Take note of the measurement mark where you stopped cutting. 
Next, slide the card base further into the trimmer, still against the "bumper" edge, until the blade track is lined up with the top of the sentiment.

Make your cut as before, starting it about 1/2 an inch from the edge, and carefully stopping when you reach the same measurement as you noted the first time.

if you've done it correctly, it should look like this: two slits of equal length, equally spaced apart, running the length of your sentiment.

Next, cut a strip of paper to slightly less than the width of the cuts you made. Thread it under the sentiment as shown.
