Make your own texture plates

My upline Kristen shared a really fun technique at her group meeting last week and I just had to pass it on! Did you know you can make your own texture plates for the Big Shot? Totally true! All you need is the white cardboard that comes in the back of a package of Designer Series Paper. You'll need two layers of it for the base, and two layers of it for the raised die-cut. You'll also need a die that you like, such as the Daisies #2 die used here.

Glue your base layers together as well as the two pieces from which you will die cut your pattern. Go ahead and run the die through to cut out whatever flowers, circles, stars, etc, that you want to use. Then, just adhere them to the base plate in whatever pattern you want.

To use my homemade texture plate, I found that a sandwich consisting of the Multipurpose Platfrom totally close, the homemade plate, the cardstock, the Silicone Mat and the Textured Impressions Pad worked well. It's almost the same sandwich as the regular texture plates, but not quite.

Here's a finished card Kristen showed. Isn't that cool? You can make any pattern you desired, spaced closely together or further apart, in a line or totally random. Love it!

  1. I need to give the credit to Sharon Meyer. She showed it to me at Sue Nurnberger’s meeting. I love the idea. My favorite is using the daisies die.
