from simple to stepped-up: Scripture notecards

Strength Prayers Praying Card Stampin Up Dove one layer Technique

As soon as I spotted this Strength & Prayers stamp set in the new Stampin' Up catalog, I knew I wanted to heat-emboss the images to make the simple truths stand out. I used Silver Embossing Powder and the Heat Tool with Versamark ink to emboss the verse and dove first, then stamped right over them with the thatched background stamp from the You've Got This stamp set. Sponging soften the edges and darkened the places where it was necessary for readability. They turned out even better than I hoped!

Once I got the one-layer notecard done, I was ready to take it up a notch with layering and a coordinating card base. Still the same technique, colors and tools.

For the third try, I turned the layout on its side and added ribbon and an antique brad. Completely forgot to do the thatching stamp on this one, so just left it heavily sponged with Island Indigo ink.

I like them all, but my favorite is still the simple, one-layer notecard. Can't wait to play more with this set, maybe pair the Scripture verse with other images from nature like In the Meadow or Lovely As A Tree. It would look great with lighthouse images, too!

What would you pair this encouraging Bible passage with? Who would you send it to? Leave me a comment and tell me who in your life need a card like this, and I'll pick one of you and send you one to give to them!

  1. Such a beautiful card!
I love the simple silhouette images and think any of those would work well with your bible verse!
My mother is 86 and has recently been diagnosed with lung cancer. She has decided to do nothing and live her life as best she can with the time she has left. She would really enjoy this card!
Thank you in advance for sending me this card.
