Dandelion Wishes and a foolproof Brusho background

I love Brusho for the intense color, but honestly, it is so easy to lose control over this unpredictable powder medium (especially if the fan is on in your craft room) and you can't always direct your spritz of water exactly right, or control the inevitable drip.

I've been messing around (really messing–you ought to see my fingers!) with Brusho again this week and came up with a fun and easy background that's impossible to mess up. I promise! 

I used the new Dandelion Wishes stamp set for this project, because GORGEOUS, and the Tuxedo Black Memento ink pad, on plain Whisper White cardstock and a Crumb Cake base; also Brusho yellow and Prussian blue and the Stampin' Spritzer. You'll also need a non-staining surface or a protected surface, and baby wipes.

I'm sorry it's hard to see because the powder is so fine, but the yellow powder (looks like orange) is lightly sprinkled from upper left to lower right corner. Then you VERY lightly sprinkle the Prussian blue (looks black) in just one or two places.

The blue is the most intense of all the colors, so the tiniest bit will do. Remember you can always ADD more later, but it's impossible to take it away once it's activated. When you spritz on the water, you'll be amazed at how far just a few crystals of powder went!

Here's the baby wipe part: as soon as you're done spritzing the water, ball one up in your hand and swipe from left to right across the card. The crystals will still be active and will leave a fun little tail behind as you wipe across. This is great for a dandelion card because it furthers the impression of the little fluffies being blown away in the breeze!

Let the background fully dry (or speed it up with the Heat Tool) and flatten it out with your Bone Folder before adhering. I use Tear & Tape on all four sides to adhere it down flat, since the water will have made it slightly wavy or curled. Distress the edges a little and it won't matter if it's perfectly flat, anyway.

I finished off my dandelion card with the White Chalk Marker to add the fuzzies, and some simple pennants in colors that coordinated with the colors created by the Brusho. I love how it turned out!
