I went a little nuts on my last Clearance Rack order and wound up with a lot of Pretty in Pink Designer Series Paper. How much is a lot? A LOT, and we'll leave it at that! So I designed a couple of cards on Saturday that use DSP and I thought I'd share them with you as I know some of you are paper hogs like me and could use an idea to use up some of that stash.
This card is actually SO EASY. It's just the Medallion stamp clear-embossed on a 5.25×4 piece of DSP, and then sponged with Regal Rose ink. The ink doesn't stick to the clear embossing powder, so it only darkens the exposed papers, bringing the Medallion design to life. That's called Emboss Resist. It's often done on cardstock, but it looks even better on patterned paper!
I actually almost like this second one better, with the pearl center, although the bow reminds me a little too much of a spider (shudder). What do you think?
Have to scoot now as Calendar Club is at my house tonight, and my kids are home for President's Day and creating a wee bit more housework than planned. : ) Ghiradelli brownies are headed into the oven–yum! if you need a girls' night out once a month, consider joining Calendar Club. We make 12 cards each month, for any upcoming holidays, and also basic ones to fill our card boxes. It's the best club deal I offer, with no minimum order required–email me for details! zwolaneks@att.net
Well I didn’t see spider until you mentioned it, I had only glanced at it and read what you wrote about it before really looking at it. In that first glance I thought it was a butterfly and a bow had not registered.
I, too, think the bow looks like a butterfly. Lovely cards, as usual! Thanks for all the inspiration. I visit your blog regularly–it’s one of my favourites–but seldom comment. Please know that your efforts are always appreciated. Love your site for demos, too. Lots of wisdom and helpful experience, there. 🙂 Have fun with your Calendar Club, tonight.
I too saw a butterfly and still don’t see a spider! I am gonna CASE the look, as it is gorgeous!
Very pretty, I don’t see a spider, I see a butterfly. I’m going to have to CASE it. Thanks for the inspiration.
I think the bow on your second card looks like a butterfly as well. It’s the 1st thing I thought of. Also I love all your cards, so pretty.
Ter 😉
