Welcome to Day Eighteen of our summer blog series, 31 Pages In 31 Days! Every day during the month of August, I'll be posting a single or double page scrapbook layout for your inspiration. YOU CAN PLAY ALONG with us by challenging yourself to complete thirty-one pages, too, and posting your progress here on Song of My Heart Stampers. I also have set up a 31 Pages in 31 Days Facebook group, where you can even post pictures of your pages to inspire and encourage others who are taking the challenge, too!
Don't forget, each week in August there will be SCRAPBOOKER'S BLOG CANDY given away to one lucky winner from the week's comments here at the Song of My Heart blog. The winner of Friday's blog candy is Theresa Janke Oestriecher! Congratulations, Theresa!
This week's giveaway is two packages of Designer Series Paper–Sweet Sorbet and Confetti Celebration! No purchase necessary to win–just leave a comment on any blog post this week with the official 31 Pages in 31 Days 2014 logo. There are giveaways going on Facebook, too–be sure to follow Song of My Heart there as well.
Today's inspiration spread is a versatile two-page layout with five small journalling cards that allow you to list five reasons you "_____." You can tweak it to suit any occasion. It could be "love you," like my sample page, "like school," "make me smile," or change it up to be five items on your bucket list, five places you love in your hometown, the baby's first five words. Why five? It's an odd number (remember the principle of three? Odd numbers of items grouped together are more pleasing to the eye than even) and it gives you enough space to write a couple of sentences on each card, and still have space to line the cards along one side of the page. My cards are 2x 3.5 inch rectangles.
I used the Metro Type alphabet stamps on this page so I had a clear contrast to the busy Confetti Celebration paper pattern I chose for my borders. I think it also contributed to the little retro-feel I had going on for this layout. I wanted my white lettering to really pop, so I heat-embossed it in white.
TIP: This fun 50's throwback-style headline is easy to do! Stamp your words on strips of cardstock, then slice the letters apart, making sure that you never hold the scissors perfectly straight. Slant them slightly right or left as you slice up the headline. Then take each individual letter and, holding your scissors at a slant for each cut, trim the top and bottom of each letter at a little angle as well. When you reassemble the word on the page, adhere them down slightly apart, as shown.

Lyssa,
Love all your layouts so far, but this one caught my eye the most! Thanks for sharing!

I’ve just ordered my daughter’s first day of school pictures and I really think I’m going to do five reasons she loves school. She couldn’t wait to go back! Yeah!!!
Oh, what a cute page. This would really mean a lot to a child later in life. If you did one every few years or so, they could see the different things you love about them as they grow older.
Another great idea!!
