Eclipse technique Christmas cards

Eclipse card technique noel Christmas cards holiday DIY cardmaking Stampin Up Lyssa holly berries

We've done this fun new Eclipse technique twice this year in Christmas Club, and it's a huge hit. Such a simple thing–just die-cut and replace back into the "negative," raised on dimensionals to show the paper underneath–but it's so impressive.

Here's what I used to make this Noel & Holly card:

You can use any die or punch for this technique, although the most popular one by far right now is the Large Letters Framelits Alphabet. I've also done with the Bethlehem skyline Thinlets–super pretty but so practical to mass produce for the holiday.

Other variations include offsetting the cut-outs to show more of the background color, and running the die-cuts through an embossing folder before putting them back into their places on the card.

It's so fun to learn a new technique! Twelve years now I've been doing this and I still discover something new every week. I love being a demonstrator for Stampin' Up–it never gets old! You should totally join the team and enjoy a whole new Renaissance of creativity in your life. rediscover the simple joy of crafting with easy WOW projects and quality supplies and color coordination.
