Happy Monday! And welcome back to 31 Pages in 31 Days, my annual scrapbooking immersion blog series! There is a whole lotta inspiration goin' on here during August, and if you run out of cute stuff to look at, be sure to check in the archives for August 2012, for 31 more page/spread ideas. I LOVE to scrapbook!
Today I have another page for the homework challenge that I issued to my Scrapbooking Summer School attendees this past week. Take an old cardfront and turn it into a page! It's a fab way to recycle, as well as a quick way to pull together a page in a hurry. I chose to upcycle a card that my friend Penni made for me with one of our cute Paper Pumpkin kits by mail. You can see it on the left hand corner.
Then I tried to get fancy and do an ombre-inspired set of graduated mats, with just a skinny space between the first two, then a little larger, all the way to the final mat spaced the furthest distance. I thought it was cool and kinda trendy! I like the concept, and might try it again. We'll see how it goes when I go to actually insert the photos–this one may not be as versatile as my other layouts. You could get super artsy and actually slice up and space out a large photo as well.
I had a lot of centers from Build A Brads left over for some reason after using the last brad on yesterday's page, so I stuck them straight down to the cardstock for some great tone-on-tone accent. You can get the same effect with Crystal Effects, though, which is an adhesive product from Stampin' Up that dries hard and clear.
All right! Let's talk about blog candy! Leave a comment under any post with the 31 Pages in 31 Days Banner, which I created using Stampin' Up's totally awesome digital scrapbooking software, My Digital Studio. Congrats to Debbie D, winner of Week One's free stamp set, and Cheryl T, winner of last week's In Color package!! Please contact me no later than the 31st, to redeem your prize! zwolaneks@att.net
This week (August 19-23rd) I am giving away two free packs of Designer Series paper to the winner of the random drawing from my commenters. You will receive a free Eastern Elegance and Travel Journal 12×12 paper pack in the mail. I know that prize is going to be HUGE, so be sure to comment once per day on each post with the 31 Pages logo, to enter the maximum number of times. Once you have won you are ineligible for the remaining weeks' contests, tho. And spread the word that there is massive scrapbooking inspiration here at Song of My Heart! See you tomorrow!
Love your scrapbooking ideas….I can never get enough ways to scrap. Thanks for sharing….hugs
Love it! I never would have thought of this color combination or layout design. This challenge is really getting me out of my rut. 🙂
I’ll have to check my cards and see if there is anything I can pull from to scrapbook with. I so appreciate this series. It’s helped me stay ahead of my deadlines and push to get my pages done!
thanks for sharing, I love the MPP sentiment!
Wow….that Penni person is super creative! Are you going to pics of her on the page??
It’s not fair. The layouts always look super cute when you come up with the idea. Why don’t they look that cute for me?
Your scrapbook pages are very inspiring. TFS
Love your recycling ideas!!!
I love the card idea. What a great way to start a page when you’re drawing a blank.
Interesting concept!!
Cool idea using crystal effects! Also like the color combo 🙂 Seriously!
I’ve gotten two scrapbook layouts done using two of the card fronts that I took home last Thursday. I have one more card front to go and I’ll have done six scrapbook pages just for the homework challenge. Scrapbook Summer School really does make me work on my scrapbooking!! I should have no problem making 31 pages in one month…
What a great layout and thank you for the tip about recycling your cards and putting them into your scrapbook pages!! Genius idea!!
All of these great layouts are making me think about actually doing some scrapbook pages. I usually stick to cards only but may have to branch out
