Day 25 of our 31 Days of Doilies bog series is this vintage-inspired Chocolate Chip and Very Vanilla card made with the big Hello Doily background stamp. I can't remember quite how this one came about, but it was one of the last things I worked on before Convention 2011, and it didn't make it into my Flirtatious suite presentation. But it's blog-worthy anyway, I figure!
To make this card, I embossed the big doily onto Very Vanilla in clear embossing powder, then brayered Chocolate Chip ink over it until all the non-embossed parts of the cardstock were dyed brown. It came out looking like our old color called Close to Cocoa (which I do kinda miss, come to mention it). The ink does not stick to the embossed parts, so it really shows off the crisp detail of the doily.
I antiqued it up, put it on a Chocolate Chip base and got busy! We have torn First Edition specialty DSP, vanilla seam binding, a Vintage Trinket antique safety pin, and a Decorative Label punched focal point. I used the Clearly for You and Charming stamp sets together on this card, with Bravo Burgundy (looks so elegant with Chocolate Chip).
Stop back in tomorrow and every day until the 31st for more doilies, as we finish out the series in style!
Lyssa, I have been following your summer series with the doilies stamp. It is amazing what you can create with only one stamp and make them all different. I have enjoyed visiting your blog
Wow, the fabulous doilies just keep coming! Really enjoying this series of cards! TFS!
This would look beautiful in a frame!
