We made a MESS today and had SUCH a good time! Thank you Angela for being our model. I haven’t done the shaving cream technique in years, and we tackled it today in my Untidy Techniques stamp camp. What a hoot! Everyone’s pieces turned out so differently depending on how much ink they used and how they “marbled” it in the shaving cream.

What a fun technique! And you wind up with backgrounds that would be impossible to get any other way. Plus, your stamp room smells nice afterwards!
- If you’d like to try this technique, it’s super fun! Just layer a solid mat of shaving cream a little bit bigger than a card front (I put it on a piece of waxed paper for instant clean up afterwards).
- Drip different colors of ink refill all over the shaving cream, and then use a Popsicle stick to mix it up (a lot, or a little, depending on what you want). The less you mix it, the more white will show. The more you mix it, the more colorful it will get!
- Then press a cardfront-sized piece of cardstock down onto the shaving cream. Press down all over to ensure the whole piece touches the cream and ink.
- Lift it straight up from the cream and lay it on another piece of waxed paper. Scrape off all the excess shaving cream from the cardstock with a Popsicle stick or paper towels.
- Let dry, or dry with Heat Tool, before you adhere it to a card base or stamp on it. The smell will fade in about 24 hours.
- You can use the same inky shaving cream pile for at least two or three card fronts until it gets too muddied to look pretty anymore. Then just roll up the whole thing in the waxed paper and discard!

Are you going to try this technique? Drop me a comment and let me know how it went! And if you need ink refills, now is the time to get them. Click here to see all our current ink dropper refills. Thanks for shopping with Lyssa! Have fun.
