Ok you guys!!! Squee! My STORAGE by Stampin' Up came this week and I got it all unpacked but had NO time to play until late last night. Today's post is pretty much raw pictures of my INITIAL SET UP–I reserve the right to rearrange any of this!!!
My table sticks out from the wall at a right angle, so the only wall space I have to put my storage up against is the end of the table next to my right arm as I'm seated working.
Notice how I was able to leave space for my wall outlet? There's only two in the whole room so it was important to me to have a storage system that worked around that limitation!
The first thing I needed was ink pad holders. You can see I left myself room to grow by five pads, as we're getting five new In Colors later this spring! I also bought more sets of Stampin' Blends holders than I actually need at the moment, so I can grow my collection of those, as well.
I have been storing my pads in rainbow order since our last big Color Renovation, and I love it that way, so that's what I went for. Looking at rainbow order makes me feel peaceful and creative, too.
I know you're going to ask about the older-style ink pads– they do NOT fit in the new holder (too tall) but they stack nicely in the open cubes with room to slide the marker case in next to them, too.
One tip I learned is to do your cubical arrangement BEFORE loading it up with your pads and stuff. It's not that the cubes are so heavy when they're loaded, it's just that things will fall out if you don't hold them level while you're moving bits around.
I love that you can choose what kind of topper to finish off your stacks with. The flat toppers look so sharp, but the toppers with a storage bin are probably the most practical because I'm always knocking things down : )
As seen in the official Stampin' Up photos, the half-size wood-mount stamp cases (item #127552) fit three to a cube and make a great way to store small items like embossing powders, Brusho, Shimmer Paint, sponges and daubers, etc. My extra trimmer blades, Take Your Pick refills and Spots ink pads also fit in there.
It's kind of like playing with blocks! I had so much fun deciding if I wanted my ink pads in one giant tower, two towers, etc. I eventually went with five shorter stacks, but I already think I might change them so they're a bit closer to me.
The photo below shows how you can get two markers in next to the ink pad, if you have duplicates of some colors, like I do.
Last quick tip–all sorts of things fit in the Blends trays, like Bone Folders, my six-inch quilter's ruler, Take Your Pick tool, paper piercers, Aqua Painters, Chalk Markers, Sharpies, etc. My best discovery was that each tray also holds five of my Stampin' Spritzers. These items don't have to be stored laying down, like double-ended markers do, but the trays helped me get one more thing off my desk and free up space.
Wow!!! What do you think? I like it and I think after rearranging a bit and getting a few more open cubes, it will be as completely customized to my craft space and my odd specifications as is possible to be. I feel SO professional when I look at this wall o' fun: )
This is amazing! Thank you so much for sharing what you’ve done so far. I’m already thinking that I could store specific-color daubers in a case above the tower of those same colors. And the extra items that fit in the Blends slots – brilliant!
