eeky epic adventure: paper pumpkins and mini monsters

Ahhhh! I can't wait any longer to share what we cooked up for this post! Welcome back to Penni & Lyssa's eeky epic Adventure for 2018. Aren't these Takeout Treat critters just TOO cute??? I had no idea this little box die was going to be so versatile.

I was thinking it would just be a cute treat container that I'd show decorated in different ways with fun tags… instead we wound up with a creativity explosion in the craft room!

Any day you use googlie eyes in your project is going to be a good day, right? Here's a few notes on the four boxes, in case you decide to make some for yourself! Left to right:

• Girly Ghost: cut Takeout box in Whisper White and assemble. Add googlie eyes with glue dots. Hand-color an oval for an open mouth. Tie a Dotted Tulle bow around box with a big bow on one side of the top.
• Spotted Octopus: cut Takeout box in Rich Razzleberry and stamp with spatter dots from the Swirly Bird stamp set in Rich Razzleberry ink. Assemble and add a mouth in White Chalk Marker. Cut eight 1/2-inch by 5.5 inch legs and run through the Corrugated embossing folder. Curl around a pencil and attach with glue dots around base of box.
• Silly Spider: Same as octopus, only in Basic Black, and with little fangs in the smile. Don't curl the legs up as tightly. Make a little sign on a toothpick and poke into side of box so it looks like one of his legs is holding it.
• Frankenstein's Monster: cut Takeout box in Granny Apple Green and assemble. Take scraps of Basic Black run through the Corrugated embossing folder and adhere randomly to head, sticking out and overlapping. Hand-draw little black stitch lines on forehead, chin and cheeks. Color White Chalk Marker on the edges of the box for a pasty complexion, and eyebrows. Add a toothpick sign as before.

Penni worked on both of our September 2018 Paper Pumpkin kits and got them all done–plus some fun leftovers that got turned into additional projects! I love Paper Pumpkin and always feel so pampered when the orange box arrives every month with my crafty suprise. Usually it's cards, but sometimes it's treats or a banner or even a mini album.

This particular kit made 24 little treat bags with adorable toppers. Just add candy!

Penni creatively used her Paper Pumpkin leftover bits to decorate the new Baker's Box, cutting apart one of the spiderweb-printed cello bags for the window area–so smart! The tag was just the right size for the Silver Mini Gable Boxes, too. These box options save time if you are gifting bigger treats or don't want to invest in a set of dies. They can be stamped or covered and are food-safe.

My favorite project is the way Penni used the spiderweb cellophane on her ghost card. What a fun way to add a stripe of color and texture to a layout!
