A spattering of stars: night in Bethlehem

It's so like me to get sucked into one fussy card just when I have a mountain of stuff to do… but you know, when you get an idea in your head and it finally drives you so nuts you have to get into the craftroom and start working on it, it's best to just let it happen.

I've been playing with spatter stamps a lot lately and decided to try them on a twilight sky. The Night in Bethlehem stamp set and coordinating Big Shot Framelits were a no-brainer for the cityscape.

I used Rich Razzleberry, Island Indigo and Pool Party inks to stamp thick layers of spatters, then sponged to make them less busy and help them blend into the background.

After I die-cut the city skyline from Basic Black, it didn't stand out like I wanted it to, so I added scraps of Pool Party cardstock behind to make the windows pop. After all, Bethlehem was hoppin' that night. Every room was filled!

Here's what I used on this card: Shop with Lyssa!

Heat Tool

Embossing Gun

I'd do a couple of things differently if I had this card to do over again (like stamp the sentiment STRAIGHT, for pete's sake!) but overall, I'm glad I gave in and let the mojo move. Maybe you can take bits and pieces of inspiration and come up with your own spattered skyline card. Whether you copy this design or just say "oooh" and move on, thanks for visiting Song of My Heart!
