Howdy, ya'll! "A Simply Scored Christmas" is back with a great gift idea for you, just in time for the gift-giving season. Grab your Simply Scored board and we'll dive right in with a fun mini-tutorial on this easy album. Be sure to check back tomorrow for another edition, and spread the word–my tutorials are ALWAYS FREE–and there will be 15 of them using the new Simply Scored tool by midnight on December 15th, 2011!
Here's the inside of this project (this sample one was made with the Flirtatious specialty DSP and the NEW upcoming Paper Doily die for the Big Shot!!). It opens to the left, then folds up on the right, then unfolds to the left again. Pretty spiffy! I got this idea from a fellow demo at Founder's Circle 2011 and I have used it several times this fall. If you are new to scoring, this is the perfect starter project.
To begin, you'll need a 10×10 sheet of cardstock, and a 6×12 piece for your cover; the Simply Scored board, Sticky Strip, Designer Series papers, and stamps, ink, punches, ribbon and what-have-you to embellish.
Score your 6×12 cover piece at 5 and 7/8 and 6 and 1/8 inches. Set it aside and score the 10×10 piece at five inches one way and five the other.
See how it is divided into four quadrants? Next, slice across the scored line between the two left side quadrants, as shown below.
Fold the top left quadrant over onto the top right quadrant. Then fold that quadrant down onto the bottom right quadrant. Finally, fold the left lower quadrant onto the bottom right quadrant.
You should have a neat little 5×5 scrapbook, which can then be adhered with Sticky Strip to the back inside page of your cover, as shown in this photo of a Christmas-themed one I made.
Here's the outside of the pretty Christmas one done with the Holly Berry Bouquet DSP from the Holiday Mini… embarrassed to admit I didn't know that Holly Berry was a SPECIALTY DSP until I opened the package and found the two different glittered designs… and at the risk of swamping this post with too many pictures, here's a couple more themed ones I made, using Well Worn and the too-cute Domestic Goddess DSP.
All right! That's it for this installment of "A Simply Scored Christmas." I hope you're enjoying the different projects, and you can purchase everything I've used here at www.lyssa.stampinup.net. If you have a scored project you think I'd just flip over, email me a photo at zwolaneks@att.net and if I end up using it in my blog series, I'll send you two of the actual projects from December 1-15th, 2011.
Next up: Radiant Embossing–you will NOT want to miss that one!
Lyssa,
I’ve made this cute little scrapbook; my up-upline, Ronda Wade, had us make these at her Creative Convention in Lansing, MI, that was held the end of Sept-first of Oct weekend this year. For ours, we used the Frostwood DSP (is that what it is called?) and made a Christmas version, too. It is so simple and adorable. We also made another mini-scrapbook at the same time. They are going to be gifted to my granddaughters for Christmas!
