Does your family have a weekend donut tradition? Or maybe a favorite doughnut shop you love to visit? That’s what today’s inspiration layout for 31 Pages in 31 Days is all about!
Here’s a fun sneak peek from the upcoming Stampin’ Up Holiday mini catalog of a brand new stamp and die bundle that celebrates the funnest food!
Isn’t that too cute? I chose Bubble Bath for the background, then layered on Peach Pie, Summer Splash and Pretty in Pink with a nice bright white for a colorful pastel page to go with the frosting on the donuts. The image is just one of several in this cute stamp set along with a coffee cup and lots of adorable sayings. It was a MUST HAVE when I first saw the mini catalog!
If you need a mini catalog just let me know! It is open for business beginning Sept 4th 2024.
That reminds me, I want to make a spread about my grandpa and I going to have morning coffee with his old-timer friends at Hardees. We arrived in style in his gloriously restored turquoise ’57 Chevy station wagon, ordered the same thing each time, black coffee and a scrumptious cinnamon raisin biscuit “for the granddaughter,” which I blissfully ate half listening to the slow cadence of geezer chatter while I colored on the sticky paper placemats. I remember the kindly smiles of the retirees, the good-natured teasing of the lipsticked waitress who refilled their cups over and over, the strong Wyoming sunlight hot on my braids through the big front windows where the old men sat like plants turned to the sunshine.
That is why I scrapbook. That was forty years ago and I can still taste the icing and remember quick grin of the hard-working man his friends called Sid. But it’s a fading memory already.
In another forty years I want to sit and turn the pages of my album and suddenly smell over-heated coffee and hear a dusty chuckle from the sunlit corner in my mind. I want to remember how proud I felt in perched on the front bench seat in that giant blue car driving slowly through town next to my handsome, cantankerous and clever grandfather. I want to tell him I never quit coloring, and that even though I left Wyoming it never left me.
This is why I scrapbook.
